The Challenge

धेरै नेपालीका लागि विदेश जाँदा सबैभन्दा ठूलो challenge नै English language हो। Daily conversation, work instructions, safety guidelines, simple emails—even basic कुराहरू बुझ्न र भन्न नसक्दा धेरैले confidence गुमाउँछन्। Language नजानेपछि Career growth, communication, र opportunities समेत हातबाट छुट्दै जान्छन्। यही कारणले English is not just a skill — it’s a survival tool for abroad life.
For many Nepali workers, the biggest challenge abroad is not finding a job—it’s communicating confidently in English. Simple conversations with supervisors, understanding instructions, talking to customers, or even introducing oneself during interviews can feel difficult and stressful. Because of this language barrier, many capable Nepalis are forced to accept low-paying jobs, miss opportunities for promotion, and struggle to express their skills. Despite working hard, they often feel left behind simply because they cannot communicate effectively. This gap in English communication becomes one of the biggest hurdles to growth and success abroad.

Communication Skill is the Key to Success

Communication skills are one of the most important requirements for foreign employment workers because they directly affect job performance, safety, and career growth.

Whether it is understanding instructions, speaking with supervisors, handling customers, or responding during emergencies, clear communication helps workers avoid mistakes and build trust at the workplace.

Workers with good communication skills adapt faster, perform better, and have more opportunities for promotion and long-term job security abroad.

The Process

To understand the impact of English in foreign employment, we studied the day-to-day communication requirements across hospitality, security, construction, retail, and customer service sectors. The process included:

  • Reviewing common workplace phrases used in UAE, Qatar, and Malaysia

  • Analyzing the instructions employees must follow in security, warehouse, and hotel jobs

  • Observing communication patterns in interviews and training sessions abroad

  • Comparing roles of workers with basic English vs. workers with no English at all

  • This analysis helped highlight the specific areas where English impacts job performance and growth

  • Identifying recurring difficulties Nepali workers face due to limited English

This analysis helped highlight the specific areas where English impacts job performance and growth.

The findings clearly show that workers with even basic English communication skills experience:

Faster job placement during interviews
Better understanding of daily work instructions
Fewer mistakes in safety and operational tasks
Stronger confidence when interacting with supervisors
Higher chances of promotion to roles like team leader, supervisor, or customer-facing positions
Better salary opportunities compared to non-English-speaking workers

In nearly every industry abroad, English acts as a bridge—opening new job possibilities and reducing workplace stress. Even functional English (not fluent English) dramatically improves a Nepali worker’s quality of work and quality of life overseas.

Boost in Self-Confidence

Speaking simple English made workers feel respected and valued.

Smoother Communication

Daily work instructions बुझ्ने र बुझाउने काम सजिलो

The findings are consistent across every destination country: English makes a measurable difference. Workers with basic English communication skills experience:

Faster interview success.
Better understanding of tasks and instructions.
Fewer workplace mistakes.
Higher self-confidence.
More job mobility and promotion opportunities.
Better salary prospects.
