Shekhar Chapagain is a Dubai-based Nepali content creator, community influencer, banking professional, and financial literacy advocate with more than 20 years of experience in the United Arab Emirates.

He is the founder of Nepalese Sewa, an education-first service platform created to help Nepalese abroad and their families make informed decisions about foreign employment, documentation, financial readiness and future planning.

Through Nepalese Sewa, Shekhar aims to connect practical services with knowledge, awareness, and responsible guidance. His belief is simple: completing a document or providing a service may solve an immediate need, but helping someone understand the decision can create a lasting impact.

More Than Two Decades of UAE Experience

Shekhar arrived in Dubai in September 2003 with a loan of NPR 90,000 and the determination to build a better future.

Although he had initially been offered a sales position with a salary of AED 1,500, the reality after reaching the UAE was very different. His first employment paid only AED 450 per month. During the early years of his journey, he also accepted additional work such as office cleaning, house cleaning and car washing to increase his income and fulfil his responsibilities.

Rather than allowing those circumstances to define his future, Shekhar continued learning, strengthening his communication skills and preparing himself for better opportunities.

His journey eventually led him into the UAE banking industry, where he built a long-term career in retail banking operations and sales support. From starting in a basic support role, he progressed into a managerial position at a respected UAE banking institution.

This personal journey has given him a practical understanding of the financial, professional and emotional realities faced by Nepalese working abroad.

Why He Founded Nepalese Sewa

Many Nepalese leave the country with the goal of improving their family’s future. However, foreign employment often begins without sufficient preparation, reliable information or a clear financial plan.

People may earn for years but return home without meaningful savings. Others face difficulties because their documents have expired, their insurance or social-security obligations are incomplete, or they do not fully understand the financial products and services available to them.

Shekhar founded Nepalese Sewa to help reduce this information and readiness gap.

Nepalese Sewa is not only a documentation service provider. It is a platform that aims to educate, prepare and support people before, during and after their foreign-employment journey.

Promoting Financial Literacy

Financial literacy is one of the central pillars of Shekhar’s work.

His content and community initiatives encourage Nepalese abroad to think beyond monthly income and understand the importance of saving, financial protection, disciplined investment and long-term planning.

His awareness content covers subjects such as:

  • Creating a consistent saving habit
  • Building an emergency fund
  • Understanding insurance and financial protection
  • Learning about social security for foreign-employed workers
  • Understanding SIPs, IPOs and long-term investment
  • Avoiding financial scams and emotional decisions
  • Developing additional skills and income opportunities
  • Planning for life after foreign employment

The objective is not to promote quick profits or specific investments. It is to improve financial understanding so individuals and families can ask better questions and make informed decisions based on their circumstances.

Foreign-Employment Readiness

Shekhar believes preparation for foreign employment should involve much more than receiving a visa and purchasing an airline ticket.

Before travelling, workers should understand the destination country, employment conditions, workplace culture, basic financial planning and the documents they may require while abroad.

After arriving, they should continue developing their communication, technical and professional skills instead of remaining dependent on the same job and salary for many years.

Through Nepalese Sewa’s foreign-employment readiness initiatives, Shekhar promotes:

  • Responsible preparation before departure
  • Awareness of employment conditions and documentation
  • Understanding the culture and working environment of the destination country
  • Financial planning from the beginning of foreign employment
  • Continuous learning and skills development
  • Identifying legitimate career-growth opportunities
  • Preparing for a sustainable future after returning to Nepal

Connecting Awareness With Practical Services

Nepalese Sewa supports Nepalese abroad and their families with practical guidance and assistance in areas including:

  • Labour approval and renewal

A Dubai-Based Nepali Community Influencer

Shekhar’s public identity extends beyond business and banking.

For Shekhar, influence is not measured only through follower numbers or viral videos. Meaningful influence is the ability to help someone avoid a scam, prepare for an opportunity, improve a skill, manage their earnings responsibly or make a better decision about their future.

His community work is closely connected with Nepalese in UAE, a digital platform providing news, guidance, interviews and practical information for the Nepalese community across the Emirates.

Founder’s Vision

Shekhar’s vision is to develop Nepalese Sewa into a trusted documentation, financial-literacy and foreign-employment readiness platform for Nepalese worldwide.

He wants the platform to help people move from awareness to action—from simply earning money to saving and growing it responsibly, from travelling abroad without preparation to making informed plans, and from completing documents at the last minute to managing them with confidence.

The long-term mission is to help Nepalese abroad use foreign employment as an opportunity to develop skills, build financial discipline and create a more secure future for themselves and their families.
